Ma petite fille

Tonight Kaarin was praying before bed. She typically says 'thank you' for everything, including all the negative things that have gone on (sickness, misbehavior, etc.). So tonight she said, "Thank You for not making me the way I want to be...I want to be bigger, but You made me small." So. cute. :) We have been encouraging her lately that God made her JUST the way He wants her to be, & that small people can do extra special things that big people can't! (And vice-versa, for the tall people in our family. :) ) By the way, I updated her 'height predictor' at Babycenter.com (which, of course, is only an estimate) & based on her height/weight at 3 + mom & dad's heights, she is now predicted to be 5'2". This is down an inch from her age 2 height. :) We're going to look for a gymnastics class for this fall...

Kid Quotes

We were at Costco the other day & saw a mom with 2 boys. Annika says, "They have a brother & a brother." Kaarin says, "Where's a girl for them?" Mommy: "Not everyone gets a boy & a girl." Kaarin: "Maybe she's still in the mommy's tummy." :)

Last night at church Kaarin saw Markus & Zay sitting on the stairs. She says, "Where is the girl?" (Halle). :)

4th of July

The 4th of July was such a beautiful day this year!!! Hooray! We were so busy all day: we went over to Anderson Island with a bunch of people for most of the afternoon/evening. We spent time on the beach, played with friends, & Kaarin & Annika got to go on a JET SKI for the first time!!!! They LOVED it! Kaarin watched someone else go & all she could say was, "I want to do that..." over & over. :)

After we wrapped up at Anderson Island we headed to Steilacoom to our friends the Kozakowski's house. We had quite a bit of time before the fireworks started, so it was really another party. :) The fireworks show started about 10:30. got over at 11:00, & we got home & in bed by 11:30. A very long, hot, fun day!!
Beach time, our favorite!!

3 year old update

So I charted Kaarin's height/weight on the growth chart to see how she grew this last year...:) Needless to say, she is still the runt & shrinking by the year!! I mentioned before that she was 36.25" tall & 26 lbs. at her check up. On the growth chart she is now in the 25% for height, negative % for weight (she's off the bottom of the chart, where she has been since she was 6 months old...) & her height-for-weight (she has always been the most average of the 3 since she is short & skinny instead of tall & skinny) has dropped to the 5%. So she is steadily remaining small. :) We love her that way. She asked me today, "Mom, why am I so small?" And I said, "Because God made you that way." She smiled, then said, "But I want to be big." You will be, in your own way, in your own time, girl. :) For now, be glad mommy can still carry you & that you have the best shot of being a gymnast in the whole Weedon/Anderson family!! ;)

Kid Quotes part 2

Me: "Goodnight, Kellen, I love you....do you love me?"
Kellen: "Yes. (pause)...but I like Daddy the best!"

Kaarin: "I love you the best, mom. Do you love me the best?"
Me: "I love you as the best 3 year old!!" (phew!)

Me: "Kaarin, you are so funny!"
Kaarin: "No I'm not, I'm so cute!" :)

Kid Quotes

Kellen: "Fingernails don't taste very good with paint (nail polish) on them."

Annika: "Kaarin has Jesus in her heart. I helped her to know what to say." LOVE!

Kaarin: "Mommy, will you scratch my back?"
Me: scratches back...
Kaarin: "Why you scratch harder?"
Me: "Because my nails are longer, see?"
Kaarin: Looks at my nails, "Huh! Oh no............!"

Annika: "I have more freckles than Kaarin."
Me: "Yep. She doesn't really have any yet."
Annika: "That because she is only 3."
Me: "She might get some as she gets older."
Kaarin: Lifts her shirt, "I have 2...!" :)

Kellen: "I should be Ichiro when I grow up."

Kaarin, praying: "Thank you for my mom & that I like she so much because she is so lovely." haha.

Kaarin: "Mom, what's this hard stuff?"
Me: "That's your ribs." :) (some of us have soft ribs, lol!)

Kellen: "Mommy, is Kaarin 1 1/2 years older than Aaron?"
Me: "Yes she is. How did you know that?"
Kellen: "Because she is 3 & he's 1 1/2."
Duh.

Annika, setting the table: "1-2-3-4-5-6 (counting the # of bowls she set). 3+3 (she put her arm down the middle to separate 3 & 3), half & half."

Parenting Tip

So my parenting tip for the day is this: if you ever need to give your child an enema, wait until they're asleep. The end.
