Questions

My girl has been asking the best questions lately. She is 3 years old, & I have been impressed with her insight. Here are 2 examples:

We went to Lopez Island for Memorial Day weekend. Erik's parents recently sold their house, so to get to the cabin we use a different driveway now. Erik's mom, the kids & I caught an earlier ferry so that we wouldn't have to wait for Erik to get off of work (his dad picked him up & they - oops, missed the 8:30 ferry -- caught the 10:30 ferry, now you see why we let his dad pick him up!!). We did great, caught the 4:30 ferry (we were the LAST Lopez car on!!), stopped at the grocery store, then headed to the cabin. We found a tree across the driveway, & while it wasn't a huge tree, it was too big for us to move, & there was no chance of going around it or through it. So we had to back up to turn around...& we got stuck in the mud. So, we gathered a few of our necessary things for bedtime & dinner & walked from there. It wasn't too far, & the kids were totally excited.:) They were in bed LONG before Erik & his dad arrived, so the next morning Annika noticed that Papa's car (& now our van, too) were parked at the cabin. She asked me first when Daddy & Papa got to the island, & 2nd how Papa & Daddy got around the tree (since they knew the tree was there, they were able to go a slightly different way).

Yesterday morning Annika came in to wake me up. She climbed into my bed to snuggle, then wanted to go have breakfast. I told her I needed to go to the bathroom first. She asked me why I always need to go to the bathroom in the morning, & I told her it is because mommy doesn't wear a diaper to bed & holds it all night, so I have to go in the morning!! She wanted to know when she wouldn't have to wear a diaper anymore for bed, & also "How do you hold it in?" :)

Tall or short?

Babycenter.com offers a tool called a 'height predictor.' You put in your child's height & weight(beginning at age 2), mom's & dad's height, & it offers an estimate of how tall your child will be at age 18 (it's possible they could still grow after that point, though I think I was done growing at 13 or 14...) So, here it is:

Kellen: 6'4

Annika: 5'9

Kaarin: 5'3

Hee hee! Maybe we'll have one gymnast in the family. Sorry, Kaarin, I guess all the tall genes got sucked out before you came along!!

Along those lines, today I took the girls to the Puyallup Farmer's Market (Kellen & Daddy went to Cousin Kendall's t-ball game) & they were sitting in the stroller in matching dresses (Kaarin had already been dressed, but when she saw what Annika was wearing she wanted to change to her matching dress!) & I heard someone comment as they went by that they were twins. And I'm pretty sure she meant biological, not just clothing.;)

Pictures

Annika, riding the bike: note the lovely dress, back pack, & gardening gloves!!:)

Slugger Kellen (can you see the blurry ball coming at you?)

Fearless Kaarin.:)

Annika fell asleep like this one night.:)

Shaving cream fun!

More funnies

Annika: "Pew! What is stinky in here? Kaarin, do you have poo poos?"
Kaarin: "Yes."
Annika: "Come here & let me smell you."
Kaarin backs up to Annika's nose.
Annika: "Yep! You do!!"

Kellen: "I am NEVER going to school next year. I won't go."
Mommy: "How come?"
Kellen: "Because then I will miss nap."

Kellen: "I wish that when Baby Aaron comes to play he could stay forever!"

Kaarin, while watching a preview to 'Kung Fu Panda 2': "Bear!"
Mommy: "Was that a bear?"
Kaarin: "Yeah. Funny!"

Kellen: "I have had a lot of boogies today!"
Mommy: "You have? I wonder why?"
Kellen: "Maybe because I haven't been picking it very much."

P.S. I asked Annika who 'Penelope' is -- I guess she is on the Berenstain Bears!:)

A couple more funnies

Some of my favorite "Kaarin words:" "Pish" (fish), "Wa-wa" (water), "No taint-to" (no thank you), "Ah-ka" (Annika). :)

Kaarin has lots of funnies, but they are actually too complicated to write out!! I've tried to catch a few on video.:) Last week she put on her shoes & kept saying. "Ow!" I finally took her shoe off, tipped it over, & out rolled...a jelly bean! No wonder!

The other day we were talking about Disneyland & when we might go there. Kellen said, "Remember when you & I went there (to mommy)?" I said yes, & that Annika didn't get to go because she was only 1. And that Kaarin was still in my tummy at that time. Annika says, "But how did she get into your tummy?" Kellen says, "God put her there!" And Annika says, "But how did He?" Now that's a discussion for another time...:)

We were up at Lopez Island for Memorial Day weekend & Kellen & Annika (& Kaarin too) were having a blast looking for crabs on the beach. I told him that I used to look for crabs on the beach when I was a little girl, but on a different beach (Bestemor had told him that she used to look for crabs on the very same beach!) & that maybe we would go to that beach with Delaney, a friend from school. Kellen says, "Delaney, Delaney...I love her!"
